Community Policing Subcommittee Meeting Notes – December 3rd, 2020

Summary: In this meeting, the subcommittee discussed the upcoming explicit/ implicit bias training for the Rutland City Police Department. This topic developed into a broader discussion about the subcommittee’s role in suggesting and acquiring future trainings, and how to best organize that effort. Additionally, the subcommittee discussed the importance of crime prevention through environmental design. Moving forward, the subcommittee will self-divide into focus groups that target specific projects to develop. In a way, all projects and ideas pursued by this subcommittee are endeavors to actualize the key recommendations achievable at the local level in the pillars of the 21st Century Policing Task Force.
