Organization Information

Mission of Organization?: First Step Pregnancy Clinic exists to provide compassionate care and practical support to women and men facing unintended pregnancies and related concerns. All services are offered at NO CHARGE and regardless of age, gender, race, religion, or other circumstances, and include pregnancy testing, counseling re. pregnancy options, limited obstetric ultrasounds, childbirth/parenting classes, dad mentors, doula services, post-abortion support, and material assistance (diapers, wipes, maternity/baby clothing, etc.)

How does Mission of your Org relate to Project Vision, or advance PV’s Mission?: As a community based non-profit medical clinic, First Step has been a part of the Rutland community for over 30 years. We seek to be a blessing to our neighbors by providing free pregnancy services to low and middle income families, without expectation or judgement. We seek to strengthen families by offering educational classes and emotional support to anyone in need.

How would your Org like to collaborate with other individuals or organizations?: Our desire is to collaborate with other organizations to provide holistic and complete care for families. Sharing resources, referrals and encouragement with others means our clients receive better and more comprehensive care, and it’s less taxing on us. We can provide pregnancy support and material assistance, while other groups can provide housing, day care, etc.

What opportunities are there for your Org to become more involved with PV?: First Step can become more involved with Project Vision by serving on a committee, promoting events and networking with other nonprofit agencies

What is the greatest challenge with which your Org needs help?: The greatest challenge for our organization is brand recognition and marketing our services to those who need us. We have been in Rutland for a long time but many residents still have never heard of us, so we need help getting the word out re. who we are and what we do.
