Fund set up for local fire victim~ RH 1-30-16
HUBBARDTON — An online fundraising campaign has been launched to help a Black Pond Road man whose home was destroyed in a fire Tuesday.
Bob Gibbs, a native Vermonter, grew up in Hubbardton. He has lived at the Black Pond Road farm for 60 years.
The owner of Black Pond Supply, Gibbs is the chairman of the town’s Select Board, of which he has been a member for more than a quarter-century, and zoning administrator for Hubbardton.
He also serves on the town’s Planning Commission and the Rutland Regional Planning Commission.
Gibbs has volunteered to work on the town’s 250th birthday celebration and on Hubbardton Days.
The fire took his house and all his belongings. On Wednesday, the town office got a number of calls from people asking if they could help.
A GoFundMe account, an online way to make a direct contribution to Gibbs, has been set up at www.gofundme.com/evnut8fw.
