Mayor Allaire:
- Fourth meeting of the Opioid Coordination Council on Monday in Waterbury – working on recommendations to the governor; Commissioner of Corrections will be in to talk about his operations, Pre-trial Diversion and Restorative Justice
- Naturalization ceremony at the Paramount – 70 new U.S. citizens, “honored to be a part of that and to welcome these folks to our country”
Rutland City Police Department Update:
- 4 in Police Academy, nearing full staffing
Rutland County Women’s Network and Shelter
- Rebranding and new name to be more inclusive
- Join: Thursday, October 5th for reveal party, masquerade theme
- Two open positions: advocate position and a housing equity advocate position (posted on Facebook page)
Red Cross
- United Way and BROC are partnering on “Sound the Alarm” with the Red Cross
- One day rally event: go around to Rutland County homes, educate families on fire safety, check fire alarms, install free smoke alarms if needed (for free)
- Volunteer! Individual or as a group

Habitat for Humanity
- 42 Cleveland Ave build: 4 walls are up!
- Need more volunteers around second week of September
- Especially people that are able to lift

- Evergreen Substance Abuse Treatment: moving and co-locating with BROC (sometime in October)

- Spring Craft Party, TAG Community Input Session, Summer Festival, Pot Decoration & Seed Planting, 3 Outdoor Walk-in Movies at 113 Library Ave, Hula Hoop Hoopla, Northwest Neighborhood-wide Yardsale
- National Night Out – over 1,000 attendees!
- Tomorrow: Rutland Art Walk! 5-8 PM Music, refreshments, dance! Stroll through galleries, check out SPACE at its closing reception!
- We Can Fix It: Home Maintenance Education for Women – 14 graduates on Tuesday!!

Building Great Neighborhoods:
- Water Street Park planning process: 3 neighborhood input sessions
- NeighborWorks, Come Alive Outside, Police Department all involved and present
- Three sessions: active vs passive, components, design; neighborhood residents were allowed to vote and add comments at every stage, more weight given to residents of Water Street
- Final meeting in September to talk about final design, funding
- Rutland Region Workforce Development Board
- Working to better get out the word on what they do
- Hiring new staff for 3 Steps Forward (program for young men with barriers to employment)
- Sophomore Summit Career Fair at Castleton – September/October
